Mr. Fernando Saldaña passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at the age of 65 in his home in Bakersfield, CA.

Fernando was born to parents Fernando Sr. and Josefina Saldaña in 1955 in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley as the fourth of six children. In 1978, he married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Madeline Cisneros. Fernando worked in construction for 40 years as a laborer, foreman, and eventually working his way up to assistant superintendent and inspector for numerous companies including The Gas Company and Energy Experts International.

In 1993, Fernando and his family moved to Bakersfield, CA. A lover of sports, he bled Dodger blue and enjoyed woodworking, history television shows, and every type of food imaginable. Fernando also loved cats, especially his own over the years, Tilly, Mimi, Zoe, Kally, and Penny.

Fernando will be loved and missed by his surviving wife of 42 years Madeline, daughters Jennifer and Kristina; son-in-law, Sean; brothers and sisters George (Susie), Isidro (Esther), Manuel, and Rosie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Fina; and brother, Luis.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a memorial and celebration of Fernando's life is being planned for a safe, future date. Condolences can be shared with the Saldaña family here on Fernando's memorial website.

Our deepest condolences to our dear Auntie Marilyn, Cousin Jenny, Cousin Sean, and Cousin Kristina. We will always remember the kindness and love we felt around Uncle Fernie. His smile and laugh would light up a room instantly. We love you all so much.

From Cris: I look back on the time we spent with such fondness. All the Aztec Street pool parties, BBQs, running around the front and back, watching your big screen TV, finding the cats jumping out of nowhere. We had soooo many good times growing up. I love you all immensely!
