Obituary for Mosetta Maddie Mangrum

Mosetta Maddie Chism was born, on Feb 25, 1930, to Suporia Hardy and Elmo Chism in Forrest City Arkansas, she was an only child. She moved to Bakersfield CA in 1946, where she attended Bakersfield High School.

In 1948 she gave birth to her first child Artis James Hammond. She later met and married Rudolph Mangum and to this union, four children were born.

She was a family-oriented woman and a great provider. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, Farming, singing, and listening to the blues. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. You can always count on a fun spades/ card game hosted at her house. Mosetta was a kind, strong, fierce woman who had no problem vocalizing her feelings. Even on her sick days, she would still say how well she could use her fist. She showed us all what strength truly is. Mosey gave an abundance of love to her children and grandchildren. If you needed help with anything she was always one call away. She made an impact on many lives, her life will be remembered and cherished with the many memories filled with love and laughter she left behind.

Mosetta departed from this life on April 23rd, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother Suporia Warner, father Elmo Chism, husband Rudolph Mangrum, son Artis Hammond Sr, daughter Devonne Mangrum, three grandsons Darnell, and Jermaine Hammond, Tracy Watson, and son-in-law Columbus Watson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters Diane Watson(George) Darlene Lewis(George) Denise Taylor(Tramell) 11 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again!
