Obituary for Amy Rose Ekdahl

Amy Rose Ekdahl, 44, of Bakersfield, California, passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2022.

Amy is predeceased by her parents, Charles Ekdahl and Faye Ekdahl and her Aunt Esie Victoria. Left to cherish her memory are her two brothers and sister: Chuck and his wife Shelly and his son, Trenton, Jek and his wife Lien and their children Ryan and Sydney, Tineke and her children Jonathan, Christine, and Chris along with uncles, aunts, cousins and countless friends whose lives she has touched throughout her short life. Her legacy will be carried on by her only son Kristian (her pride and joy), whom she shared with Sean Bidabe Villalobos.

Amy was born on July 6, 1977, in Bakersfield and has lived here her entire life. Although she seldom ventured too far from home, she traveled in a wide circle of friends. When she did travel, she went with her best friends, Mom and Aunt Esie. She was a mother to one child, but she had a lot of “kids” through her dedication to education being a substitute teacher. She taught many Kern County generations of kids and hopefully, they are better off having interacted with her . She was a volunteer for the local Pinups for Patriots chapter. This was a nod to her father who was a Vietnam Veteran and yet another feather in her life of servitude. Amy had a carefree and loving soul, a unique infectious laughter, and a beautiful smile that lit up a room. She loved music, bonfires, horoscopes, inspirational quotes and karaoke and is probably harmonizing in heaven with the angels.

As some may or may not know, Amy’s son Kristian is on the spectrum. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Kern Regional Center or Inyo Mono Association for the Handicapped.
