Obituary for Amelia Guillen

Amelia Villa Guillen, 81, went to be with the Lord on May 21st, 2020 in Bakersfield, California

Amy was born to Juan and Manuela Villa, January 5th, 1939 in Midland, Texas as the youngest of 8 children. Amy and family moved to Bakersfield at a very young age where she raised her family and spent the rest of her life. Amy worked for 34 years in the housekeeping department of The Four Points Sheraton, where she met and worked with many that she considered family. Amy worked just passed her 80th birthday and took pride in what she did, her work ethic was unmatched. She often worked holidays so others could spend that time with their families. Shortly after her 80th birthday, Amy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and began receiving treatment at the AIS Cancer Center. Amy battled hard and was the strongest woman we all knew and loved.

Amy loved to spend her time surrounded by family. Her favorite holidays, Easter and July 4th, were always marked with a family BBQ at her home, where she was surrounded by her family. Amy loved the beach and taught all her kids, nieces, nephews, and cousins how to tent camp. To this day, many still love camping because of her. Amy was considered by many a “Classy Lady” and loved to dress to impress, even if it was just a quick run to Wal-Mart or Target. Thos who knew her always felt they were a part of her family.
Amy is survived by her brother Peter, sister Bea, long time companion Beto, 5 children; Yvette Rutiaga, Suzette and Frank Tovar, Nicolette Fabela, Ruben and Amykay Fabela, and Lynette Roberson, along with 100+ grandkids and great grandkids. Amy was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Manuela, brothers Frank, Johnny and Nato Villa, sisters Vera Smith and Manuela Juarez, and her eldest granddaughter Tanesha Bell.

Visitation will be held June 3rd from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn SW Celebration of Life Center.
Memorial Service will be June 4th at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn SW Memorial Park
