Virginia (Ginger) De Los Santos (nee) Miller entered into eternal peace, peacefully at home in Bakersfield, California on July 24, 2020 at the age of 78 with her loving husband by her side. Ginger is survived by her husband James Daley of Bakersfield, CA; daughter Kimberly her husband Robert and their three children - Andrew, Aryn and Aidan all of Angola, NY; her son David and his wife Mona and their children - Joseph and Matthew all of McKinney, TX; and daughters Amy Van Boening and her husband Billy of Bakersfield, CA and Kimberly Burnett and her sons Braden and Jackson of Los Osos, CA and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Ginger is preceded in death by her parents Leroy Miller of Cumberland, Maryland and Leona Miller of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, and siblings Joyce Pace, Patricia Ferguson and Richard (Keith) Miller. Ginger was born on March 18,1942 in Cumberland, Maryland to Leroy and Leona Miller. Ginger’s immediate family said goodbye in an intimate memorial service that was held at a family home on Tuesday July 28, 2020. Ginger was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart who was always giving to others. She was a courageous and persevering spirit who overcame many adversities in her life. She was a friend to everyone who met her. Ginger liked nothing better than an interesting conversation with a good or new friend. She could have an engaging conversation with anyone. She was a lover of nature, especially birds which she enjoyed feeding and watching every morning like clockwork in her backyard. Ginger also enjoyed listening to the many windchimes which she collected. Ginger cared for all kinds of stray animals that passed through the yard which she would eventually “adopt” over the years. Everyone knew that she adamantly adored butterflies, and if you knew Ginger, you knew that. Whether it was reading or watching her favorite who-done-it book or movie, playing poker, having a margarita or listening to mariachi music, she was always one who lived her life knowing how to have a good time. Ginger felt her greatest accomplishment was becoming a wife and a mother. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and especially loved her role as “Granny” to her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them all. She gave all the love she had in her heart to her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family. We all knew how much she loved us, as she made it clear thousands of times over. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.
