Teresa (Tessie) Alvarado Orozco, 87, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, at the Gardens of Modesto with family beside her in Modesto, California. Teresa was born in Lewis Springs, Arizona to Evaristo (Joe) and Maria Jesus Alvarado on October 15, 1935. She spent her childhood in Douglas, Arizona.

After WWII, her family moved to Bakersfield, California where she lived out her teen years and completed high school at Garces Memorial High School. As a young adult, Tessie moved to Santa Clara, California and eventually married and raised her five children in San Jose. She enjoyed a long career at Ford Aerospace/Loral Space Systems in Palo Alto, California.

Tessie was a devoted and hardworking mother who cherished her family, friends and neighbors. Her passion was her family and she always looked forward to the holidays and family reunions. She enjoyed herself most when spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she treasured. She loved her Dodgers, and her hobbies included cooking her mom’s recipes, gardening at her home, playing card games and Rummikub, reading mystery and romance novels, and watching football, basketball and baseball. And she was an avid softball player while raising five children and played in the local bowling leagues.

She leaves behind her loving sons and daughter, Timothy, Thaddeus (Gloria), Stuart (Debbie), Roxanne (Vince) and John (Barbara). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa, Kimberly, Amber, Raymond, Zachary, Megan, Cierra, Joey, Johnny, Ashley, Jeremy, Elise and Joshua and her great-grandchildren, Jenna, Lukas, Zakkary, Matthew, Hannah, Soffia, Madeline, Makenzie, Maisyn, Milena, Calvin, Ruby, Cooper, Charlotte, Miley, Eryn, Alexander, and Rowen. And she is survived by her sister Lucy (Balde) and brother Robert, and sisters-in-law Angie and Sara and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary and celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 19, at Greenlawn Funeral Home Northeast from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 3700 River Blvd. in Bakersfield and a funeral mass on Friday, October 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
