Tribute by Dimitri Marcellana, husband of Stephanie Marcellana:
Stephanie Tabernilla Marcellana and I have been married since 1968. She was born on July 12, 1947, and grew up in Tayabas, Quezon Philippines with 5 sisters and 3 brothers. She graduated in journalism from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila Philippines. During this time, I was assigned to a mentor who would oversee my studies at the University of the East in Manila- Lilia Calig. She was one of Stephanie's roommates, also studying to be a teacher, and was the person who first introduced Stephanie to me. I remember seeing the two of them while walking down Avenida St. in Manila so I invited them to get ice cream; from there my love and relationship with Stephanie only blossomed. I courted her, in other words. We got married in 1968 and soon after, I traveled to Delano, California to teach. When I established my work and status, I asked Stephanie to follow me all the way to California. She did, and we lived our lives together for over 52 years. Together, we raised our son Dean and brought more family members from the Philippines to California. Through this, we met many prayer sisters, brothers and friends! Once in the United States, Stephanie worked at the US Postal Service in Wasco, CA until she retired after 25 years of service. I retired from Earlimart schools soon after in the year 2005. Stephanie and I took a wonderful trip to Israel and Egypt together to tour for a religious visit. This visit to the holy land was a defining moment for both of us. Through God and family, Stephanie lived her life with love. She loved to cook and would give whatever she could afford to share!!! Brothers, sisters, friends, and family- may the Lord God have mercy on you, and may He bless my wife Stephanie in the afterlife. May she rest in eternal peace with our Lord Jesus.
