Obituary for Shirley Elizabeth Quiroz

Shirley E. Quiroz, 68 years old, of Bakersfield, CA, passed away from this life on October 28, 2020 after a gradual decline in health do to advanced stages of Parkinson’s Disease. She was born in Hugo, Oklahoma, on November 9, 1951 to her parents Billie and William Couch but was later raised by her mother Billie and her stepfather Henry Johnston. She was the wife of Carlos Quiroz and they shared 50 wonderful years together. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother, she loved her family with all she had and more and it showed in her loving touch and life.

Shirley was always known for her kind and generous heart in her personal and professional life, which led her to obtain her CNA certification and help others in need. She worked in the healthcare field for 50 years and built long lasting friendships with her coworkers: Candy, Kelly, Gloria, and Maggie. Shirley’s hobbies consisted of cooking, spending time with family and friends, and she enjoyed the occasional slot play with her husband at the casino.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the many wonderful friends especially Tadonisha Dukes and Kelly Lewis at Parkview Julian who cared for Shirley during her last few days.

She was survived by her husband Carlos Quiroz and two children and their significant others: Carlos Adrian Quiroz and wife Kelly Quiroz, Teresa Salomon and life partner Ernest Obert; six grandchildren: Kristopher Salomon, Austin and wife Teresa, Ethan, Evan, Aiden, and Aaron Quiroz; one great grandchild; Ellie; her seven brothers: Larry Brown, Ray Couch, Steve, Jimmy, and Herschel Johnston, Jackey Southward, and Vic Rector; and one sister, Karen Johnston.
And many nephews and nieces.
