Sharon was born in Bakersfield, CA on March 31, 1962 to Russell L. and Ellen Rink. She passed away at the age of 60 in Chicago, IL on August 23, 2022, after enduring a valiant 8 year battle with cancer.
Growing up, she attended South High School and Cal State Bakersfield. Professionally she had been employed as a Sales Manager for both Miller's Outpost and The Bakersfield Californian in Bakersfield, the Yakima Herald Republic in Yakima, WA, The Santa Cruz Sentinel in Santa Cruz and Bed, Bath & Beyond in Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Russell A. (Wilma) Rink of Bakersfield, and Donald J. (Estelle) Mackelvey of Bakersfield, her uncle Eddie (Carol) Rink of Bakersfield, her uncle Don Mackelvey of Bakersfield, her aunt Susan (Mackelvey) Crainer of Texas, her uncle Hank Snow of Sonoma, her uncle Ken McCoy of Bakersfield and her cousin Michelle Mackelvey of Texas.
She is survived by her parents Russell L. (Ellen) Rink of Bakersfield, her brother Steve (Karen) Rink of Camarillo and their extended family, her brother Scott (Suzie) Rink of Chula Vista and their extended family, and her brother Shawn Rink of Chicago, her uncle Eddie's daughters and their families, her uncle Bob (Charlotte) Mackelvey of Texas and their extended family, her aunt Charlotte Mackelvey of Colorado and her extended family, her aunt Peggy Snow of Bakersfield and her extended family, her aunt Mary (Ira) Sullivan of Bakersfield and their extended family, and the Crainer family of Texas.
Sharon lived life to the fullest and forever impacted the lives of everyone around her. She faced cancer with strength and determination and fought to the end with resilience and grace. She put up a good fight and gave it her all! She can now rest in peace, free of pain, and start flying with the angels! We will miss her gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and tender hugs.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, or any local animal rescue organization.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Greenlawn Cemetery Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA 93313.
