Obituary

Salvador V Ibarra of Bakersfield, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 after a short illness.
Sal was born in Fillmore, CA to Donaciano and Natalia Ibarra, the forth child of twelve children. When Sal was nine, his father moved the family back to Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico to work the family ranch. As a young man in 1939, Sal moved back permanently to the USA and began to work in construction. He eventually met and married Connie Renteria in 1956. They lived most of their lives in the Ventura area, raising three children.

Sal joined the Carpenter’s Union in the early 1960s, eventually becoming a Journeyman Carpenter. He worked many commercial and residential projects throughout the county like the Crown Plaza, the Le Cumbre Plaza, the Oxnard mall, until his retirement in 1988. He and Connie then moved to Bakersfield where he continued his love of building and woodworking. Most of all, he enjoyed taking long car trips, mariachi music, dancing, being with family, and playing with his two grandsons.

Salvador is survived by his three children: Mary Lou White (Robert) of Hanford, Lauren Ibarra-Welty (David) of Bakersfield, Ernest Ibarra (Leticia) of Bakersfield. Two grandsons: Gabriel Piane (Leanne) of Virginia Beach, VA, Paul Piane of Hollywood. Two great grandchildren: Jordyn and Evan Piane of Virginia Beach, VA. Three sisters: Catalina (David) Dorantes, Alicia Ibarra, Lily Tirado all of Fillmore. Many nieces and nephews throughout Ventura County.

He was preceded in death by his wife Connie in 2004. Five brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tran, at BFMC, for providing care to Sal over the past few years. A special gratitude to Ann Telmo, and the caregivers of Summer Springs Assisted Living, for all the help and kindness they provided to Sal these last six years.

Due to concerns of the Corona virus, graveside services will be held for the immediate family at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at a future date when we can all gather together.

In lieu of flowers, please write on the memory wall or share a photo.
