Richard Arthur Pritzkau was born on January 27, 1939 to John and Lydia Pritzkau of Napoleon, ND. Richard Arthur Pritzkau passed away on January 2, 2021 in Bakersfield, CA, at the age of 81.
He met and married Mavis Pfaff in Jamestown, ND. They moved from ND. to Utah to Colorado to California. Richard worked construction most of his life and was a member of Laborers Local 220 for 50 years. Every year, for 20 years, Richard would go to Utah to drive a team of horses alongside his brother, Clifton, in an annual 4th of July parade. He was involved in boys and cub scouts with his boys. He loved working with wood, he made lots of outside decorations for the holidays, especially Christmas. Richard never met a stranger and rarely forgot a face. He was known by a lot of people as Dick. He loved to talk, tell stories and jokes, and to go to the donut shop for coffee.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mavis of 59 years, Son Rocky (Angie) Pritzkau, Daughter-in-law Arlene Chuman, Grandson Jason (Vanessa) Pritzkau, Granddaughters Ashley (Jakob) Pritzkau and Hannah Pritzkau. Great grandsons Ryland, Logan, Ryker, and Jackson. Brother Clifton (Rose) Pritzkau, Sisters Laverne Calverly, Albert Lea, MN and Donna Turner, Fargo, ND.
Preceded in death by son Richard James Pritzkau.
Services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA on January 19th at 1 PM.
