Richard (Rick) was 71 years old. He entered eternal life on May 3, 2021 in Bakersfield, CA
Rick was born on Oct 10, 1949 to William and Nancy Mathews in Taft, CA.
Rick completed high school at Taft Union High school and joined the US Navy immediately to serve his Country. He married Ruth Pruess and they had 2 children, Christene D Mathews on Nov 20, 1975 and David G Mathews on Aug 8, 1978. Upon his return to civilian life he began a long career in the oil industry. Rick married Cheryl A Gunder on Mar 14, 1992.
Rick enjoyed being outside and had a lifelong love of the ocean and the mountains. He was most “at home” at his cabin at Sugarloaf Mtn Park where he and Cheryl spent a good part of 20 years before having to say goodbye due to his health.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents William H Mathews and Nancy J Mathews and first wife Ruth Pruess
