Obituary for Ray Segura

Ray Segura was a beloved son, and father, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend. Ray passed unexpectedly on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the age of 33.

Ray was born on January 15, 1989 to Raymundo Benavidez and Evelyn Ramos in Edinburg, Texas.

In 2004, Ray and his family moved to Bakersfield, California. While here he attended East High School and graduated in 2007.

Shortly after, Ray enlisted in the Army from 2007-2010. Where he was station at Fort Lewis in Washington. In 2009, he was deployed to Afghanistan for a year.

In 2014, he attended University of Phoenix in Bakersfield for Criminal Justice major. He then went on to receive his commercial drivers license in 2017.

He is survived by his mother Evelyn Ramos; his children Ray Anthony Segura, Aryanna Bella Segura; his siblings Gilbert Segura Jr., Ruby Ann Segura, Dominique Segura, Ethan Jordan Hernandez, Edwin Hernandez, and Alex Solis; his nieces and nephews Kaylence Marie Oliva, Leandra Evelyn Oliva, Josiah Gilbert Segura, and a Wiener dog named "Buster". Those who predeceased him include his father Raymundo Benavides and his grandfather Carlos Manuel Gonzalez.

We will always remember Ray for his love for casinos (his favorites games were craps and baccarat), candy, Dallas Cowboys, his never-ending ideas of how to renovate his home and how to improve it, bike riding, his pets (Princess, Xena, Raider, and Dallas), his pranks, and his ability to see “one’s trash as treasure” he would see people throw away electronics and he would bring the electronics home and fix them.

Anyones who knew Ray, knew he was extremely funny, kind hearted and a mamas boy. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
