Obituary for Norma Harriet Morris

Norma Harriet Morris was born April 9, 1943, to her parents Clinton and Georgia Austin in Bakersfield, Ca. Norma attended local schools and graduated from East Bakersfield High School. She attended Bakersfield College majoring in Business Curriculum. Norma met and married Rufus Morris, Jr. To this union 2 children were born: Kevin Roe Morris and Sharron Kay Morris. Norma was employed by AT&T for 25 years before retiring in 1995 as a Communications Specialist. She also worked part-time for the Greenfield Unified School District, working at Greenfield Junior High School (2 years) and Fairview Elementary School (10 years). Norma loved traveling to Las Vegas or any casino location, spending many sleepless nights playing Bid-Wiz with friends and family while listening to her favorite artist, Al Green. In 2017, Norma’s dream came true; she was able to travel to New Orleans, Louisiana. This was the one place she always wanted to travel to. It was also the first time she ever flew on an airplane. She talked about that trip with a huge smile on her face until her final days. She loved her four legged grandkid’s Stewie and Nino as if they were human beings, cooking, BBQing, shopping on QVC and spending time with her family. Norma is preceded in death by her Fathers Clinton Austin and Vernon Jackson, Mother Georgia Jackson and Brother Robert Austin. Norma leaves to celebrate her life: Son Kevin Morris (wife Kenya), Daughter Sharron Forney (husband Keith), Sister Marilyn Jenkins (husband Eddie), Brother David Jackson (wife Yvonne), Grandchildren Brandy Bradley, Robert Morris, Autumn Morris, Marquis Morris, Angelo Morris and Angelina Morris, 3 Great Grandchildren and a host of Uncle’s, Aunt’s, Niece’s, Nephew’s, Cousin’s and Close Friends. Norma will be deeply missed...but not forgotten by all who knew and loved her.
