Obituary for Minor LeVoy Arnold

Minor LeVoy Arnold
Minor LeVoy Arnold, more commonly known as Tommy, was born on January 10,1945 in Neosho, Missouri. He spent a portion of his early years living in South Central California. His family returned to Missouri to a rural farm near Squires when he was 13 years old where he spent the remainder of his youth. Tommy met the true and lasting love of his life on New Year's Eve in 1963, Linda Sue Lockmon “Lindy”. They said "I Do" on September 18,1964.

Shortly after they were married, they headed west on Route 66 to build a life together and settled in Bakersfield, California. They welcomed their first-born son in 1965, then a daughter in 1968. They also adopted 9 children and selflessly raised many more during their 32 years as foster parents.

For 14 years Tommy worked in the dairy industry. In early 1979 he obtained a Class A driver's license with a Hazmat endorsement. He drove various semi- trucks for 27 years until his retirement on his 61st birthday. Then, Tommy mentored and guided his son Terry, as he began building his business.

After retiring, he enjoyed many trips with his family in their motorhome. He loved deep sea fishing, and his face would light up when he told stories about his Alaska fishing excursion. His greatest pride was tending his garden. His green thumb would coax only the best from his rose bushes and vegetable garden.

Tommy nurtured the fruit trees until they developed delicious globes of juicy delight. All of his kids and grandkids have fond memories of enjoying the literal fruits of his labors.

Tommy was the epitome of a kind-hearted man who dedicated his life to his family. He was easy-going with a witty sense of humor. He was always caring for those in need, kids and animals alike.

Tommy passed away peacefully in his home on January 12, 2024, holding the hand of his devoted wife of nearly 60 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lee Ila Arnold Davis, two sisters, Etta Mecke and Edna Davis, four children, Tamara Lynn, David Vern, Paige Josephine, and Joseph Lee.

He leaves behind to preserve his memory, his loving wife, sons Terry (Donna), and Corbin, and Jared of the home, daughters April Watts (Redd), Alisha Seefeldt (Alfred), Samantha Westberry (Anthony), and Hope of the home, his brother, Marion Jr. "Butch" Davis, sisters Pauline Quinley, Mary "Susie" Main plus treasured grandchildren (10) and great-grandchildren (4). Memories of Tommy will be cherished by many.
