Obituary for MaryAnn Theresa Roll
Maryann Theresa Roll, 93, of Bakersfield passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on June 8, 2022.
The oldest of 13, Maryann was born to Johann Joseph and Maria Catherine Burkard Munnemann in Santa Barbara CA. Maryann graduated from Santa Barbara High School and completed her degree at Mount St Mary's University in Los Angeles before becoming an educator. Maryann retired after 25 years from the State of California in 1994 and moved to Bakersfield.
Maryann is survived by her daughter Gemma Monty, grandson David Monty great-grandchildren Alyssa Olmos, Matthew Sheratine, Danielle Arreola, Ashley Monty, & Anjelica Figueroa. Great-great-grandchildren Luis, Audrinna, Emilia, Ethan, Mason, Lukas, Gianna, Charity, Aubree, & Esteban. Siblings Margaret Cohen, John Jr , Adrian and Anthony Munnemann as well as many nieces and nephews.
Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo Roll, her daughter Maria Lisa Roll, her siblings Gregory, Stephan, James, Peter, Frances, Agnes, Gemma, & Barbara.
Maryann was active in local politics in Santa Barbara for many years and donated to many charities throughout her life. She was an avid reader who loved learning and sharing her knowledge with anyone and everyone. She loved her cats and was a book lover who had an extensive library collection including many cookbooks.
Maryann cherished visits from her family and loved sharing stories and reminiscing. She was loved and will be missed by all that knew her.
