Mary Elizabeth (Sloan) Reiss
12/25/25 – 2/13/21
Mary Elizabeth Reiss was born, along with her twin sister Jane, on Christmas day 1925, in Tuttle, Oklahoma to Opal Cleopatra and William Earl Sloan. Mary’s father passed away when she was a young girl, and having a leadership personality, she soon was the organizer of the household, making sure her mom was all right and her sister didn’t forget her school lunch money. As a young woman looking for a new adventure, Mary confidently moved to California in the 40’s. She found a job working for The Telephone Company working as an accountant and soon worked into her Supervisory role there. Mary met her husband Frank at a USO dance sometime in the mid 40’s and they married in November of 1949. They had two Children, Mark and Anne for which she gave up her job to raise. Ever the accountant, Mary was always analytical but also had a creative side and spent years enjoying oil painting. She was a smart, loving, talented and fun person who always gave her best. One of her greatest pleasures in her later life was spending time with her grandchildren and showering them with love, from reading them nursery rhymes to attending swim meets, concerts, plays, and more, creating many memories along the way. Mary passed away peacefully at 95 years of age with her daughter by her side. She is proceeded in death by her husband Frank Reiss, and son Mark Reiss and is survived by her daughter Anne Enders, beloved son-in-law Terry Enders, and the grandchildren she loved and adored, Nathan and Sam Enders.
Thank you to all who cared for her so well at The Villages at Seven Oaks and the special angels at Hoffman Hospice.
