Obituary for Marc Edward St. Laurent

Marc Edward St. Laurent
Marc Edward St. Laurent was born to Frenchie and Judy St. Laurent on November 18, 1960, in Vincennes, Indiana. He spent the first few years of his life in Bridgeport, Illinois, before moving to California with his parents. He grew up mostly in Bakersfield, lived for two years in Quito, Ecuador, and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1979. He worked for the Hall of Records for several years before going to work at the Kern County Municipal Court. He was there for over 30 years before he retired from the Traffic Division of the Superior Court in 2020.
Marc married Susan Rogers in 1992, and they were together until the end. Their son, Paul, was born in 1997, and their daughter, Lily, was born in 1999. Marc was a great hands-on dad who enjoyed his children very much (and they him). He loved the Dodgers even though they broke his heart, and he raised his son to be a Dodger fan. They both enjoyed Driller games while Paul was in high school. He and his daughter enjoyed watching Jeopardy and talking about movies and TV, history and geography. He was proud that his kids also went to BHS. He was funny, smart, curious, and hated mayonnaise more than he hated the San Francisco Giants, which is saying something.
Marc passed away on November 2nd after an 11-year battle with prostate cancer and a short bout of Covid. He always said he wanted to die with his teeth and his prostate, and we’re happy that he had all of his teeth at the end. We’re so incredibly sad that he’s gone, and we’ll miss his wit and smarts for the rest of our lives.
He is survived by his wife and children; his mom, his sister Mary Ann, his sister Susan, and her partner, Kenny Rippee, and their family, all of Seymour, Missouri; his brother, Brad, and his wife, Carrie, and their children of Milford, Michigan; his sister Samantha of Central Islip, New York; his sisters-in-law, Mary Lu and Mary Spillane-Rogers of Bakersfield; his Aunt Jane and Uncle Frank Canaday of Eaton, Colorado; his Uncle Bill and Aunt Marynel Bradley of Kettering, Ohio; cousins Tracey and Tim Canaday and their families in Colorado; and the goofy family dog, snaggle- tooth Rita.
No services are scheduled, but a block of us will be going to a Dodger game next year and celebrating Marc’s life there. Please contact the family if you want to be kept in the loop.
