Passed in Bakersfield, CA at the age of 73 years young

Manuel married Leocadia M. Gonzalez on July 3, 1976 in Indio, CA. They lived a wonderful and loving life together for a blessed 44 years. They had 1 daughter, Brenda, who was the apple of his eye. Manuel loved his 3 grandsons Jeffrey, Brandon, and Andrew. He loved them with all of his heart and would do anything for them. He loved to travel, go fishing, and most of all spend time with his grandsons and family.

He served in the Marine Corps for 4 years from 1965-1969 as Sergeant with an honorable discharge. He was a proud veteran who loved his country, and fought in the Vietnam War. He attended Pan American University in Edinburg, TX where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Manuel then got his Master’s Degree at Cal State University in Bakersfield, CA. Manuel was a teacher, community counselor, dean of students, assistant principal, and principal. He spent his career at Sierra Jr. High, Arvin High School, Shafter High School, Richland Jr High, and Delano High School. He was in the education field for 35 years until he retired in 2004 to spend more time with family. He loved his career working with students, teachers, and administrators.

Manuel is survived by his wife Leocadia M. Gonzalez, daughter Brenda, and grandsons Jeffrey, Brandon, and Andrew. Manuel is also survived by his siblings Arnulfo, Santos, Clementina, Amalia, Delia, Graciela, and Sylvia. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and in laws.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Gregoria Gonzalez and his brothers Lionel, Abel, Danny, and Vidal

Viewing will be held Thursday August 6, 2020 at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary from 4 pm - 8 pm. Masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced.
