Lupe Tovar
December 10, 1931 – December 25, 2020
Lupe 89 was born in Bakersfield Calif. on December 10, 1931 to Maximo and Josephine Torres and passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020.
Lupe lived in Arvin with her family and attended school in Arvin and BHS in Bakersfield. She met her future husband Phillip Tovar in Arvin and after a courtship of 18 months eloped and married in Fresno Calif. They lived for a short time in Malaga Calif. where she welcomed her first daughter Patricia. After moving to Bakersfield in 1954, she welcomed her second daughter Deborah. Lupe worked as a presser for Sparkle Cleaners for 20 years and retired at 58 to enjoy her grandchildren who she loved dearly. Lupe enjoyed many trips including Hawaii, ocean cruises, family trips, and going to Las Vegas for New Years. She also loved going to nearby casinos. As she got older, she loved to attend her monthly birthday luncheons with family and friends. In times of need she would light candles for her family and friends.
Lupe is survived by her daughter Deborah Zuech, son in-law David, grandson Michael Zuech, wife Mandi (Anderson) Zuech, Cari Cowling, brother Manuel, wife Linda, brother Mark, wife Esther, great grandchildren Zoe, Bodhi, Peyton Zuech, Noah Hernandez and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by parents Maximo and Josephine Torres, husband Phillip Tovar, daughter Patricia Tovar Sawberts, sister Frances Valencia, and grandson Christopher Zuech.
Lupe was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived to see her great grandchildren whom she much loved. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Due to covid-19, private services will be held with plans to hold a celebration of life in the future.
