Obituary for Linda Martin Hardy

Linda Martin Hardy (74) passed away on January 20th, 2024, in her hometown if Bakersfield California. She was the widow of Cassius “Butch” Hardy, and they shared 22 years of marriage together.

Born on March 17th, 1949, in Coalinga, California to Randolf “Bum” and Gladine Martin. She attended North Highschool and Graduated 1967. She worked in the Healthcare Industry for 40 years doing what she loved.

She was a member of Valley Baptist Church and worked and managed several different Assisted Living Facilities throughout California. Her love of the Senior Adult community continued to grow and eventually lead her to a position on the board of directors as an elected official in Santa Barbara, county.

One cannot mention Linda without referencing her love and passion for horses. She began riding in her teens and was a member of the West Bakersfield 4H club. There she began her love of service, teaching children to ride and care for horses. This eventually led to her starting the “Hooves for the Handicapped” program in the 1980’s. Her passion and love of horses continued for the rest of her life.

She is survived by her brother Larry Goodman, sister-in-law Lynn Goodman, nieces and nephew Lauri, Leslie and Lance. Her daughter Melissa Martin, Son Chris Castro, Daughter in law Raeann, grandchildren Cain, Vaughn, and Eleanor. Grandson Darren Deatherage, Granddaughter in law Kelsey and great-grandchildren, Jaedyn, Riley, Weston and Jackson. She is preceded in death by Husband Casssius “Butch” Hardy and her parents, Randolf “Bum”and Gladine Martin. She leaves behind many friends who became family.

Services will be held on Friday, March 1st, 2024, at Valley Baptist Church Located at 4800 Fruitvale Ave. Bakersfield, Ca. 93308. Service time is 11 am with reception immediately following.
