Lawrence was born on December 2nd, 1951 in St. Louis Missouri. His mother, Lorretta Dace-Turner of St. Louis and father, Bill Turner of Upland, California preceded him to the gates of Heaven. Larry was married to Melvita Jane Jones on March 11th, 1972 and never left each other’s side until his passing. Larry worked as a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager for 25 years, retiring with PCL in 2020. Before that, Larry worked for Texaco, rising up through the company from an oil field laborer to Refinery Manager with a few years offshore on Texaco’s Oil Platforms Habitat and Harvest.

Larry was a very spiritual man who was incredibly proud of his church, Calvary Chapel Bakersfield where he served as an usher until he could no longer attend in person. Larry was an avid car enthusiast who, along with his wife and brother Bob spent many weekends at car shows, winning numerous awards for his 1951 Chevy Business Coupe and 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. Before that, Larry found great joy in coaching his son’s soccer and baseball teams and supporting their musical interests.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 51 years Melvita, his two sons Christopher Turner of Ellicott City, Maryland and Scott Turner of Bakersfield, California. Larry also cherished his surviving siblings, Bob Turner of Bakersfield, California and Sandy Littleton of Vale, Oregon. Larry’s beloved grandchildren Gavin Turner, Atley Turner, Keegan Turner and Eleanor Turner will miss him greatly. Larry is preceded in passing by his Mother Loretta, Father Bill and Daughter Sarah Kathleen Turner.
