Obituary for Katherine Thomas

With sadness in our hearts our family announces the passing of Mary Katherine Thomas. She was 85 years young.
Her sunrise was July 9th, 1935 in El Reno Oklahoma
Her Sunset was August 15th, 2020 in Bakersfield California

Katherine the eldest of 5 children was born to nurture and care for those around her it began at a young age when she took care of her siblings while her parents worked. Her love and giving heart affected the lives of all people who met her. However, she was a mother first, a mother who loved her children unconditionally. She was devoted to caring for her son Mike for 35 years after a car accident. She cared for our dad Jim after he had a heart attack until he went to heaven in 1992. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandma. We hope we have been able to have the same love and devotion in us too.
Once she was old enough, she worked alongside her parents in the cotton fields. Her school bus would drop her off at the fields so she could work, from that point forward her hands were never still. She was always busy in the yard, taking care of the house or the kids.
She leaves behind her brothers Kenneth Holmes and his wife Margie, and Tom Holmes and his wife Nadine. Her sister in law Pat Bagget and son Robert Thomas Sr., daughter Patricia Breedlove and son in law Bill, son Martin Thomas and daughter in law Kathleen. Granddaughters Kristin Yerkich and grandson in law Joe, Robin Thomas and grandson in law Michael and her grandsons Christopher Thomas and granddaughter in law Amanda, Jason Breedlove and granddaughter in law Lindsay, thirteen wonderful great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
As her family will miss her, we know she is overjoyed to being reunited with her husband Jim Bob, son Michael Alan, grandson Robert, sisters Gloria Joan and Berta Loraine, her parents Georgia and Herman Holmes who preceded her in death.
