Obituary for Jimmy Cabanilla Casabar

On Monday, July 20, 2020, Jimmy Casabar, loving husband and father of five children, passed away at age 83.

Jimmy was born on February 21, 1937 in San Manuel, Tarlac, Philippines to Alejandro and Pacita Casabar. He received his Agriculturist degree from Central Luzon State University in Munoz, Nueva Ecija, and worked as a provincial Agriculturist in Tarlac, Philippines. In the late 1950’s, he married Angelita Cabanting. They raised 5 children, Gil, Elizabeth, Heide, Jaime Jr. and Marites.

Jimmy had a passion for plants and animals. He was born to a family of farmers, so it was no surprise that he soon learned to love planting crops and animals. He shared his knowledge of farming to his neighbors and taught them how to grow healthy and bountiful crops to feed their families and friends. He even became the towns pro-bono veterinarian through his love of animals which helped keep food on the table for his neighbors. After receiving his degree, he immigrated to America for a chance for a better life for him and his family. Through hard work, he climbed the ladder of migrant workers to become a crew boss and started working as a labor contractor to several vegetables and grapes plantations across the valley. He also worked in Alaska as a seafood processor for a few seasons until he finally decided to stay closer to home where his loving family was located. Jimmy was known for his kind and compassionate spirit, his willingness to help, and many sacrifices he endured for his loved ones.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Alejandro, his mother, Pacita and his beautiful wife, Angelita. He is survived by his five children, Gil, Elizabeth, Heide, Jaime Jr., grandkids, brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday, 4-8 pm and followed by funeral service on Friday, August 7th, 2020 at Greenlawn Mortuary at 10 a.m. Flowers and Cards may be sent to any of his children.
