Obituary for Janice Kay Lee

Janice Lee was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister and fiend. She
left this world on April 10, 2021 at the age of 72.

She was born to the late Laurel and Luella Buckner on October 27, 1948 in Hammond Indiana.
She was the second child born of four daughters. She was preceded in death by her sister
Deborah “Debbie” and survived by her sisters Linda and Sharon. After graduating from high school, she
followed her dream of becoming a hairdresser. While attending cosmetology school she received
awards for her achievements. She soon married Gerald “Jerry “ Crissman and they had two
daughters: Kimberly “Kim” and Gina. She would later remarry to a man named Virgil Lee. They
married on August 31, 1977. They were married for 34 years before is his passing. For the last 20 years
of their marriage, they maintained a group home for Kern Regional Center. Together they cared for 6
clients who lived with them. Janice retired after 35 years of being a hairdresser. She was so proud of
herself for being able to cut her grandson Jett’s has last October. She Said, “I ’ve still got it”!

Janice enjoyed her family and friends and had a gift for home décor and fashion. Shopping
was one of her favorite pass times. She enjoyed dinners out to Mexicali with her family. She embraced
being a grandmother or “Nan” to her six grandchildren: Robert, Joseph, Karlee, Chad, Jaclyn and Jett.
Janice also had 1 great grandchild: Paislynn.
