Obituary for James "Jim" Edward Hodge

James (Jim) Edward Hodge, age 87, of Bakersfield, California, passed away in his home of 48 years on February 17, 2020. He is now in his forever home with the Lord.
Jim was born in Bakersfield, California, on November 29, 1932, and worked in the manufacturing industry employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and for a subsidiary of Paramount Farms. Jim served in the Army from February 7, 1950, until honorably discharged April 18, 1953. He served valiantly in the Korean War. Jim was married to Sue E. Hodge for almost 40 years.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed billiards and fellowship with many seniors at the Rasmussen Center in Bakersfield. He enjoyed “Taco Tuesday’s” at the Moose Lodge and he loved to cook. Jim delivered “Meals on Wheels” for many years after he retired. Jim came to know his Lord and Savior in his 50’s which had a measurable impact in his later years.
Jim is survived by his brother, Joe Travis (wife Nadia); his two sons, Jim and Brian Hodge (wife Jennifer); grandchildren, Joshua Hodge, Sarah Hodge and Brandy Fenn; great-grandchildren, Jade Hodge, Emma Hodge and Amaya Lemmons. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Hodge, and mother, Donna Frazor, and his sister, “Aunt” Betty in addition to his two great-grandchildren, Addison Rae and Tava Grace.
Service will be held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., February 27, 2020, 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, California 93203.
