Obituary for James Kenneth Brandon
James “Jimmy” Kenneth Brandon III, 39, died April 23, 2021 in Bakersfield, CA.
Jimmy was born and raised in Bakersfield, graduating from South High School in 1999 and Bakersfield College in 2001. He attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, graduating with a BA in History/Social Science in 2004. He returned to Bakersfield after college, where he met and married Heather Van Buren. Jimmy worked as a History teacher in the Kern High School District for sixteen years, sharing his patriotism and love of history and politics with his students.
Jimmy was known for his passion for football, politics, and most importantly, sharing his faith in Jesus. He was always ready for a philosophical debate and firmly rooted his beliefs in a Christian worldview. Jimmy enjoyed time fishing with his family and the travels that took him everywhere from working in Washington, DC for a semester, to Malaysia, Alaska, and many other places.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Heather, their children Reagan, Noah, and Harrison, his parents Katie and Todd Claborn, and James Brandon Jr., as well as several siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Southwest on May 13, 2021 at 9:00 am.
