Obituary for James Anthony Armenta

Mr. James Anthony Armenta, 79, son of the late James Redondo Armenta and Ofelia Robles Armenta, was born April 3, 1942 in Casa Grande, Arizona and he entered his eternal life on May 23, 2021 in Santa Monica, California. He graduated class of 1961 from Casa Grande Union High School. He was united in holy matrimony to Rosita (Rosie) Chairez in April of 1965. This union was blessed with seven children.
Mr. Armenta was an All County Quarterback during his high school years for Casa Grande. He played Varsity Football and Baseball. As a member of the Boys Letter Club, he was instrumental in running a boxing smoker for underprivileged children through the Foster Parents Plan which provided the children with food, clothing, and education.
From 1976 through 1981, Mr. Armenta was foundational in the startup of The Casa Grande Golden Glovers, one of the city’s first boxing teams. During these years he ran multiple boxing smokers all throughout Casa Grande and surrounding cities in Arizona, Mr Armenta was even fortunate enough to lead The Golden Glovers to the U.S. Junior Olympics in 1978, quickly becoming a local legend in the community.
His impactful life will forever be honored in the lives of His Sons: Mr. Anthony J. (Delores) Armenta, Bakersfield, CA, Mr. Timothy P. (Linda) Armenta, Riverside, CA; His Daughters: Ms. Maurine E. Armenta, Ms. Lydia Morrell, Ms. Justine L. Armenta, Mrs. Jennifer A. (Carlos) Lopez, Mrs. Michelle E. (Hector) Gomez, all from Bakersfield, CA; twenty-seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; His Sisters: Mrs. Lydia Walsh, Oceanside, CA; Mrs. Tensia Escobar, Bakersfield, CA; Mrs. Patricia (Patsy)
Mistofsky, Lawndale, CA; An Aunt: Mrs. Socorro Cabanillas, Toltec, AZ; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Ms. Sally Armenta and Mr. Richard D. Armenta.
Funeral arrangements will be hosted for family and friends by Greenlawn Southwest at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, California on June 11, 2021.
