Obituary for Jack Aron Oergel
In the early morning of June 16, 2020, Jack Aron Oergel, 86, died at his home in Frazier Park, California.
Born November 5,1933, in Royal Oak, Michigan, Jack was the only child of Howard and Lillian Oergel. When Jack was 5 years old, he and his parents left behind the cold of Michigan for sunny southern California. Shortly after meeting the love of his life, Avril Marlene Hayden at Hall's Drive-In in Costa Mesa, the two were married on January 1,1953. During the Korean Conflict, Jack answered the call from "Uncle Sam" moving his new bride to Ft. McClellan, Anniston, Alabama. Upon completion of his duty to the U.S. Army, they returned to California where Jack joined the Carpenters' Local Union 1453.
Settling in Huntington Beach, Jack supervised many construction projects for C.L. Peck for the next 20 years until he started his own business in Frazier Park building homes. The independence of being his own boss, gave Jack the freedom to indulge his more adventurous side. Whether he was riding a horse following a wagon trail through Wyoming, exploring Alaska, or traveling the country in his motor home, Jack was always on the move. In 2007, after more than 60 years in the Carpenters' Union, Jack retired. He continued his love for woodworking, travel and working on his vehicles. He kept his mind active reading and researching what would be his next project.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marlene Oergel, daughter Cindy Lee Carmack (George) of Frazier Park, son Jody Aron Oergel (Valerie) of Stafford, Virginia, 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Christina Oergel, his parents Howard and Lillian Oergel, granddaughter Claire Slade and grandsons, Amos and Asher Foster.
A private family ceremony will be held June 30, 2020, 12:30pm at Bakersfield National Cemetery, Arvin, California.
