Obituary for Emilio Vasquez Garibay

Emilio Vasquez Garibay, 76, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at his residence in Bakersfield, CA. He was born on May 7, 1943, in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, to Ruben Garibay and Anita Acosta. Emilio married Lenora Robles, the love of his life, on October 18, 1963.
Emilio was a car salesman with Harvest Chevrolet and Three-Way Chevrolet for most of his life. He enjoyed being with family, camping at Oceano dunes, riding quads, listening to his Ranchera music and was a huge Dodger fan. He was also fond of gardening, John Wayne and buying/selling cars. He was an usher at Valley Bible Fellowship for over 20 years and his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports.
He will be remembered by his laughter, joke-telling and his huge infectious smile.
Emilio was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Lenora Garibay; mother, Anita Acosta; father, Ruben Garibay; daughter, Monica DeMarco; and grandson, Andrew Guerra.
He is survived by daughters, Rosemary Guerra (Martin Guerra), Lisa Franco (Ralph Franco); and a son, Christopher Kimble (Jennifer Kimble). He also leaves behind six grandchildren; Melissa Forker, Adam Franco, Jeremy Valdez, Alyssa Guerra, Aaron Franco and Dominic DeMarco; along with eleven great-grandchildren, Joslyn, Tyler, Addison, Ethan, Andrew, James, Emma, Adrian, Aiden, Elias, and Noah. Emilio was also a foster father to many children.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in Building A of Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA, 93313. A private graveside service will follow in the cemetery at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park.
