Obituary for Elizabeth Tate

Elizabeth was born on January 8, 1930 in Checotah, Oklahoma. She passed away at the age of 90 on March 19, 2020 in Bakersfield. She moved to California when she was 20 years old and went back to school and got her diploma and then became a detective for 27 years at the Mira Mesa Navy Base in San Diego where she retired. Soon after retirement she moved back to Checotah, Oklahoma to be close to her siblings. In 2014, Elizabeth came to Bakersfield where her son, Joe Mann lives. Elizabeth loved her family and all her friends. Elizabeth would donate her time to help out anyone who was in need. You could always expect a hug whenever you saw her. She donated her time to Salvation Army and was in so many groups in Checotah, Oklahoma and also helped so many people; she had such a huge heart. Elizabeth received the Citizen of the year 2013 for Checotah, Oklahoma. She was involved in many groups including, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, ESA Sorority, Red Hat Club, Optimist Club, Lions Club, Member of Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, Disable Veterans Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, and Volunteer at the Methodist Mission. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Tate; her parents; her son, Chester Mann; and by her one brother and four sisters. She is survived by her son, Joe Mann and his wife, Judy; her granddaughters, Sherry Biddles and her husband, Chuck Biddles, and Tami Myers and her husband, A.J. Myers; her great-grandsons, Danny Tarkington and his wife, Ryelan and Billy Maples; her great-granddaughters, Amanda Mann, Kayla Shelton, and Baylee Maples; her seven great-great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; and all her friends in Checotah, Oklahoma.
