Obituary for Edward Cosme Chavez

Edward Cosme Chavez
December 13, 1954 – May 24, 2022
Edward (Eddie) Cosme Chavez, age 67, went home to the Lord on May 24th in Bakersfield, California. He passed away suddenly and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Eddie was born in Delano, California and was preceded in death by his parents Refugio and Margaret Chavez. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Espinosa, in 1976. He is survived by Susan, their daughter Marisa (Leonardo) Chavez and grandchildren; Elize, Leneé, Izabella, and Leonardo Jr.); his brothers, Daniel (Rosa), David (Tina), Steve, and Rudy; and sisters, Lucy Flores, Linda Chavez, Louise (Isaac) Trevino, and Laura (James) Skiba and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.
Eddie graduated from Delano High working several jobs during his high school years. He worked as a machinist, began his own trucking business and later a driver training school. He was very hard working, persistent, and a jack of all trades capable of repairing just about anything.
His daughter and grandchildren were the pride of his life. He rarely missed a scholastic achievement award, dance recital, theater performance, piano recital, choir concert, or most definitely, a soccer game. He sponsored soccer and softball teams throughout the years in both Bakersfield and Delano. Eddie will be remembered for his great generosity. He was constantly willing to lend a helping hand. He was a man of faith in Jesus Christ, had a great sense of humor, was adventurous, fun loving, and always looked at the bright side of things with a positive attitude.
Viewing (5:00-8:00) and rosary (6:30) will be held on Friday, June 10 at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park 2739 Panama Lane, Chapel (bldg. A). The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 14 at St. Philip the Apostle Church at 9:30 on Stockdale Hwy, followed by the burial service at Greenlawn Cemetery on Panama Lane.
