Obituary for Doreen Kay Cotter

On Saturday February 6th, 2021 our beloved mom Doreen Brock Cotter AKA 'MEMA' at the age of 67 went home to be with the Lord,

Doreen was born on November 9th, 1953 in Taft, Ca. Doreen was raised in Taft, Ca and attended Taft Union High School. Doreen met and married William Stan Reeves and together they had three (3) children William Shad Reeves, Scott Wayne Reeves and Sandy Kay Buddell.

Doreen was a very hard worker and it was not uncommon for her to work multiple jobs simultaneously to provide for her children and still managed to provide a conducive, structured and prosperous work / life balance while still finding time for motherly duties, spending time with and instilling values, life lessons, humility and ethics and making sure Shad, Scott and Sandy never went without.

Doreen met the love of her life Gary Dennis Cotter AKA 'Gramps' and married him on December 9th, 2000. Gary and Doreen settled down in Dustin Acres, California in what is now the Family Home. Gary and Doreen had a wonderful loving relationship and life together until Gary went home to be with the Lord on January 7th, 2012.

Gary had introduced Doreen to the world of camping which instantly became one of her favorite past times. Doreen's new found love and enjoyment of camping evolved into Doreen buying a motor home to which she proudly named 'The Blue Lady'. Doreen would join friends and family on camping trips and if nobody was camping she was known to roll up in The Blue Lady and camp in Family or Friends driveways. Doreen wrote and created a sign that she proudly hung inside The Blue Lady that read "camping can even be in a driveway of family". Doreen relished the opportunities she had to spend time camping in the Arizona desert with her very dear friend Sandy Mosley Love.

Doreen adored any opportunity she had to spend time with her children and their spouses Shad and Kimberly, Scott and Amber and Sandy and Bill, Grand Children & Great Grand Children which includes Mathew Reeves, Kiersten Reeves, Jimmy Buddell, Alyssa Reeves, Chucky Buddell, Caiden Whittaker, Danny Buddell, Dylan French, Skyler French, Cody Reeves, Brayden Reeves and Rylan Snyder.

Doreen had a very big heart and loved everyone and if you had the opportunity to meet and spend time with her you knew right away that you had a friend, and Mema forever.

Doreen's strongest and most faithful relationship was with the Lord. Doreen proudly displayed her unwavering faith in the Lord and could be heard time and again stating that "Lord will provide". Doreen led women's bible study at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Taft, Ca and led women's bible study online during the current pandemic.

Those interested in paying final respects to Doreen may do so on Wednesday February 17th at Greenlawn located at 3700 River Blvd in Bakersfield Ca between the hours of 4pm and 8pm. Graveside services will be held at westside cemetery in Taft, Ca on Thursday February 18th, 2021 at 1pm with a celebration of life to follow.

Doreen is preceded in death by her Father Charles Edward Brock, her Mother Bertha Alice Brock and her beloved husband Gary Dennis Cotter. Doreen is survived by her Brother Michael Brock, her 3 children, 10 grand children and 2 great grand children and many many close cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Doreen, Mom, Mema will be dearly missed however; will live forever in our memories and in our hearts.
