Obituary for Donnie Dean Harrison

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Donnie D. Harrison. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Elmer & Vivian Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leone Harrison, children: David Harrison (Sandra), Donna Harrison and Dorene Harrison, three grandchildren: Alyssa, Justin and Nicole Harrison, brother in law Donald Fleming (Cindy) and their families.
Donnie was born on February 11th, 1936 in Marion, Kansas. His early years were spent on the farm. After a stint in the U.S. Air Force, Donnie moved to Ventura, Ca. in 1959, where he met the love of his life, Leone. They soon settled in Oak View, Ca. where they raised 3 wonderful children while he worked for Shell Oil Company. Donnie was very active in his childrens lives, volunteering in all their various activities, school functions, and scouts. In 1980 the family moved to Taft, Ca., where Donnie continued to work for Shell before retiring after 33 years. After retirement, he worked on and off at the local True Value hardware store. Throughout his life Donnie enjoyed attending church, taking family road trips, fixing things, visiting with his grandchildren and long conversations with his friends. He never passed up the chance to make a good deal or to help someone in need. He will be laid to rest at The Bakersfield National Cemetery at a later date.
