Obituary

Donald Maxwell, age 77 passed away August 20, 2020 in Bakersfield, CA

Don was born April 29, 1943 in Kearny, NJ. to George and Florence Maxwell. On October 23, 1965 he married Deanna Grodzicki.

Don was a salesman, and spent many years working in the auto and RV industries. He loved a good football game, politics, and telling jokes. He never met a dog he did not like, and is being met in heaven by his numerous pets who passed before him.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers George and Robert. He is survived by his wife Deanna, his children Adrienne Guirguis and husband Cherif, son George Maxwell and wife Raquel, daughter Erika Agnetti and husband Brian, grandchildren Brendan, Cameron, Ryan, Declan, Natasha, Breckyn, and his two dogs.

These few words do not adequately sum up a life well spent. Don was a wonderful husband, father, Papa, and friend. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held September 12, 2020 at 11:30 AM. Please e-mail Ag566@yahoo.com for details.

As friends of Don’s daughter Adrienne, we got to know him over the past 10 years as the kind of person who made everyone feel respected and important. He was funny and entertaining, telling stories that kept you interested and engaged. Don treated people well and with kindness. His love for his wife and family were always on display and he will be so missed.

Donald was my cousin. One of 3 who helped form me into the adult I became. The 3 taught me love of family, that only older cousins could teach. Different than the love of family you learned at home. All 3 showed me how to laugh. All 3 showed me how to deal with varied family situations both early and more importantly, late in life. George made me realize that family was valued at any cost. Bob taught me that family was and should always be an important string that binds us all together, and he lived that value to the end. Donald was a cousin above all others, including his brothers, that lived life for the laughs he could bring to all around him. Growing up, he was the one who visited me on Christmas morning to play with my toys, defended me to the Ideal Beach Bullies, showed me parts of Bakersfield CA that I would never have seen, always reached out to talk with a phone call at the oddest times and lived my mom and dad for who they were. I will never forget my cousin Don. Bigger than life. Proud of his family. Proud of his cousins and proud of who he was. Love you Don. Go into this peaceful night with the blessings of us all. God speed into this part of your journey! Love you.
