Christie Lynn Higginbotham (47) of Bakersfield, CA peacefully passed away in her home on October 1, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Christie was born in Findlay, OH on September 11, 1973 to Norma Brunke Juarez (deceased) and Charles Higginbotham (deceased). Christie attended Bakersfield High School.
For the past 9 years, Christie worked as a supervisor at CIG and always enjoyed socializing with good friends. While living on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands from 2003 to 2007, Christie became a proud member of the Crucian with Cruzan Club. Christie is survived by her biological sisters Elizabeth (Michael) Clay (née Canby) and Michele Anderson (née Higginbotham), as well as her best friends who became sisters- Kristine Hobson and Staci Trusty. She is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews, Michael, Victoria (Matthew), and Lynsay (Justin), Ryan, and Jessica.
Her family and friends describe her as one of most caring people you’d ever meet- silly, sassy, and sarcastic yet kind.
Memorial services will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery S.W. on October 10, 2020 at 3:00 PM. We will make a toast to Christie and her life at a ‘Happy Hour’ immediately following at Lengthwise Brewery S.W.
Christie lived a happy and simple life in the service of other people. To honor her fight against this nasty disease and her selfless nature, the family humbly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

I am still in shock over the death of my friend who passed away a day after my birthday. I had no idea she had cancer and I am very sad that I did not reach out to her earlier because I am in miracle healing ministry and we fight against this disease because I have seen people with stage 4 cancer come into the crusade against cancer and get completely healed. Christie did not have to die! God would have healed her! I am going to miss her. We worked together at Fatco and my fondest memory is our wine tasting trip to Paso Robles because she designated me to be the driver of a van with 15 people. We had so much fun! I will never forget that trip. Christie was the most sweetest, kindest, humorous person with a sass to her attitude. She loved people. The last time I saw her was at our reunion at Chuy's. We had so much fun! Matt Pence I know you are going to miss her too. I will see you on the other side Christie! You are in God's hands now and enjoying heaven. Meet me at the gate when I come through! Love you my friend!
