Obituary for Carol Allen Moss

Carol Allen Moss was born in Fresno, CA on December 30, 1941 and passed away at home in Bakersfield, CA on September 16, 2022. During her early years, she was surrounded by the love of her family, parents Robert Schneider and Ethel “June” Rocha, and siblings. As an adult, she married Ed Moss, on September 10, 1965, in Selma, CA, who became her partner in life and business. Together, they founded a wide range of productive businesses that included a collection agency, real estate ventures and commercial leasing operations.

Carol was a successful businesswoman who was the CEO of Commercial Trade, Inc. and Owner of The Trade Center, an executive office complex. Both businesses, which are located in the Stockdale business corridor, continue serving their clients. Over the years, Carol and her businesses received numerous awards. These include Congressional proclamations, as well as recognition from the California Senate, California Assembly, County of Kern, City of Bakersfield, Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, the Kern County Hispanic Chamber, North of the River Chamber and the Executive Business Roundtable.

She belonged to many organizations and took great pride in giving back to her community. She was highly involved with Bakersfield AM Aglow’s ministry, where she served as President until June of this year. For many years, she managed the group’s monthly communication and announcements, in addition to serving on its Southern San Joaquin outreach team. She was a longtime member of Bakersfield First Assembly of God where she was a Board Member, Elder and Chaplain. Carol, who was recently elected, was the first woman to be elected to their Board of Directors, where she served until her passing. Other organizations with which she was involved included Teen Challenge, Central California Make-A-Wish Foundation, J J’s Legacy and a variety of overseas Missions. Her support included time, expertise, contributions and office space.

Carol had a very competitive personality which was complimented by her personal motto of “kill ‘em with kindness.” She was always very respectful and supportive of her clients and employees. She considered her associates to be family and maintained an open-door policy of prayer. Carol, or “Mrs.” as she was frequently called, was a great friend, mentor and prayer warrior to many in the business and non-profit communities. However, she prioritized her time around her most coveted job title, which was “Mamaw” to her loving grandchildren. Anyone who crossed paths with her could feel her compassionate spirit and welcoming Christianity.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Schneider and Ethel “June’ (Rader) Rocha; brother Teddy Schneider; beloved husband Ed Moss; and grandson Joshua Moss-Ennis. She is survived by sisters, Garliee Cave and Delora Blalock (Michael); brother Doug Schneider; daughters, Betty Moss, Bev Moss, Danette Keeler (Dustin); and grandchildren Christopher Keeler (Theresa), Jennifer Johnson (David), Tiffany Moss-Ennis, Eric Ennis, Coyde Perry (Andie), Oliver Perry, Ever Rojas,. Great-grandchildren include Austin Moss-Lopez (Kelly), Braden Moss-Ennis, Riley Moss-Ennis, Maxwell Keeler, Allison Keeler, Connor Johnson; and great-great-grandchild Blake Williams, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and her CTB family.

A very special thank you to Kimber Line and Linda Parsons for their dear friendship; and Kelsey Keeler for taking incredible care of Carol at the end of her life. Also, special acknowledgment to Monika Dooley for providing one of her two life’s obsessions: popcorn. Her other being the San Francisco 49ers, which involved her attending home games and training camps. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest, Panama Lane. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Bakersfield First Assembly of God, 4901 California Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309. Interment will be held after the service at Greenlawn Southwest, Panama Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Bakersfield First Assembly of God or Bakersfield AM Aglow
