Obituary for Betty Jean Thompson

Betty Jean Thompson was born in Bearden, Oklahoma on May 18, 1929 to Beulah and Lee Morris. She passed away in Bakersfield, California on January 27, 2021. She attended High School in Wewoka, Oklahoma. After her family moved to Bakersfield, she met William Thompson and they were married April 18, 1949. While raising her family, she began her working career in the offices of various cotton gins in the Old River area and finished working many years for the migrant program at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. She retired after 24 years of public service. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all whom she loved greatly. She and the family enjoyed trips together to Northern California, Oregon, Bishop, and June Lake, fishing and spending time together. One of her greatest joys was spending time with family at the beach house in Morro Bay. She and William recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with the entire family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Beulah and Lee; and sister Barbara Hoeger. Betty is survived by her husband William, brother Max Morris (Sandee), son Larry Thompson (Susan); daughter Janice Stinson (John); granddaughters Maureen Barnett (Rial), Deana Tison (Ryan); great grandchildren Landen and Lexi Tison, and Emerson Barnett; and many nieces and nephews.
