Obituary for Auguste Moussa Hamati

May the Lord Remember in His Kingdom His Servant Auguste

Auguste Moussa Hamati, 92, Bakersfield, died on August 10, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 9, 1930 in Antioch, Syria, to Moussa Georges Hamati and Eugenie Antonios Assha, both native of El Mina, Lebanon.

He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline (née Karam), daughters Gigi and Eugenie (Toni Frangie), and son Christian; grandchildren Maya Angela Frangie, Joya Frangie Pillor, Dylan Auguste Hamati, and Leila Juliette Hamati; great-grandson Alexander Anthony Pillor; sister Salam Choueiry (née Hamati); and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Angele, Georges, Henri, and Jean-Jacques. He was dearly loved and deeply respected by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

An Orthodox funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 10:00am at the Greenlawn Memorial Southwest Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA, 93313. Following the service, a gathering will be held at the Virgin Mary Life-Giving Spring Antiochian Orthodox Church, 6655 Ming Avenue, Bakersfield, CA, 93309.
