Obituary for Antonia "Toni" Slinkard
Antonia (Toni) Shirley Slinkard, 73, walked into eternal peace on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 at her own home in Bakersfield, Ca. Her family at her side
Toni was born on January 23, 1948 in Taft, Ca., the daughter of the late Shirley Brewer and Andy Sanchez. Toni’s entire life was dedicated to caring for those whom she loved. She married in 1963 and later gave birth to her three children, whom she stayed home to care for while they were young. She was very involved with all their activities. Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA and a constant dose of teaching them the meaning of love, hard work and respect.
Toni was a hair and wig stylist at Brock’s Dept. Store and waitressed for many years, working with her mother, sister and daughter at different times in various restaurants in Bakersfield. At one point all 4 of them worked at Bob’s Big Boy together!
She married the love of her life, the late Ron Slinkard in 1985. They brought both of their families of children together, who were all still young, and made it one big family over the past 34 years. For 25 years she and husband Ron selflessly took care of their son Ab at home who was incapacitated when he was 24 years old.
Toni is preceded in death by her husband Ron (Papa) Slinkard, her mother Shirley Brewer, her father Andrew Sanchez, her brother Andy Sanchez, her son Jerry (Ab) Wilson, and her grandson Bret Williamson.
She is survived by brother Dennis Sanchez and wife Nancie, sister Deanna Simms, son Bobby Wilson and wife Dena, daughter Jamie Hickman and wife Sheila, daughter Rhonda Allen, daughter Shanna Hamershock and husband Mike, son Steve Allen and wife Danielle, and son Randy Allen. She leaves behind 20 grandchildren, Sarina, Amanda, Bobby, Mallori, Jeneal, John, Kaylee, Kyle, Marisa, Cassandra, Alexandra, Alyias, Alexis, RJ, Jasmine, Jacob, Lola, Josh, Zachary, Abbie and many great-grandchildren.
