September 5, 1930 – March 4, 2020

Anita (Annie), was born to Victor Cardiel and Anita Carrasco in San Angelo, Texas, into a family that included six brothers (Victor, Alfred, Richard, Augustine, Robert, and Joe Jr.). She came to California at the age of ten. After settling in Bakersfield, Annie attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish School and graduated from Garces Memorial High School.

Annie married the love of her life Niceforo (Pat) Gallardo on May 26, 1951. They were blessed with four children: David, Rosemarie (Doug Paslay), Sally (Ron Errea), and Laura (David Morton). The family enjoyed summers camping in Morro Bay with friends and family. Their life was filled with love and laughter. Annie was a devout Christian dedicated to God and family. She was a loyal daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, as well as a gifted quilter, cook, and always enjoyed a trip to the casino. She worked for the Bakersfield City School District at Curran Junior High School and Mt. Vernon Grammar School and subsequently retired. Annie is survived by her loving husband, four children, nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
A viewing is scheduled Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, located at 900 “H” Street, Bakersfield, California, a Rosary will follow, and Mass at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Southwest Cemetery located at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield.

Our Guardian Angel Annie is dancing in heaven with her mother, brothers, and friends. We will love and remember you always. Vaya con Dios!
