Obituary

Anita C. Gallardo
September 5, 1930 – March 4, 2020

Anita (Annie), was born to Victor Cardiel and Anita Carrasco in San Angelo, Texas, into a family that included six brothers (Victor, Alfred, Richard, Augustine, Robert, and Joe Jr.). She came to California at the age of ten. After settling in Bakersfield, Annie attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish School and graduated from Garces Memorial High School.

Annie married the love of her life Niceforo (Pat) Gallardo on May 26, 1951. They were blessed with four children: David, Rosemarie (Doug Paslay), Sally (Ron Errea), and Laura (David Morton). The family enjoyed summers camping in Morro Bay with friends and family. Their life was filled with love and laughter. Annie was a devout Christian dedicated to God and family. She was a loyal daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, as well as a gifted quilter, cook, and always enjoyed a trip to the casino. She worked for the Bakersfield City School District at Curran Junior High School and Mt. Vernon Grammar School and subsequently retired. Annie is survived by her loving husband, four children, nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
A viewing is scheduled Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, located at 900 “H” Street, Bakersfield, California, a Rosary will follow, and Mass at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Southwest Cemetery located at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield.

Our Guardian Angel Annie is dancing in heaven with her mother, brothers, and friends. We will love and remember you always. Vaya con Dios!

Condolence to the Gallardo Family . I’m sure my mom and dad were there to greet her at heavens gate. I have fond memories of our families camping at “The Rock” fishing at the pier and the women folk with all the kids at the camp site. The lunar eclipse that happened when we were little kids and we all had to stay inside the trailer how we were wanting to look out those windows. We loved your mom very much and will miss Annie.
The Gallardo’s Family will be in our thoughts and prayers. From your friends, Joe,Nancy,Eric,Julie Elizagoyen

My thoughts and prayers are with the Gallardo families. Dearest Annie, I will always cherish our memories and talks of the past, when you were young and danced and played basketball with my uncle and aunt. Thank you for sharing pictures of them and you and your group of friends. They are priceless. I miss you and love you, Ruth

My heartfelt condolences to the Gallardo Family. I just ran into Annie at the Rite Aid about a week before she passed away, I always asked about how her family was doing and she asked about my family and parents. Usually we would see each other after mass at St. Francis. I know she was a great caregiver for Mr Gallardo and I send my prayers to the entire Gallardo family during this very difficult time. I know she was a master quilter and was a friend to my mother and father. My Mom would always ask her questions about any quilting problem she would have, and Annie always had an answer. They took the BC quilting class from Mrs. Daniels and enjoyed their time together. I attended school with Rosie. David and Sally and have known Doug most of my life (we met at Frank West School in Kindergarden), and I became friends with Rosie at good old Golden State. Prayers to you all, I know Annie was a wonderful mother, you were truly blessed to have her as such an important part of your lives.
